Established in 1945 under the name of Veerashaiva Education Society, Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of Science, Arts and Commerce is located in the heart of the city Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka is spread over a campus of 2.3 acres. The College is devoted to promoting education in all branches of learning and in building a holistic personality among students. It caters to the educational needs of students cutting across gender, caste, creed, community and religion, with the sole objective of empowering the youths  by imparting knowledge and facilitating at affordable cost.

Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College is affiliated to Bangalore City University and is a grant-in-aid institution. It is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) & 12 (b) in the year 1994. It is recognized by UGC as College with Potential for Excellence. The college was accredited by NAAC with B+ grade in the year 2003 with CGPA 76.50 and was re-accredited with ‘B’ Grade in the year 2010 and 2016.

Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of Science, Arts and Commerce is a well reputed, service-oriented institution, which is one of the first three aided colleges of the City, which was started in the year 1945. It runs all the traditional courses like B.Sc, BA, B.Com, BBA, BCA and M.Com.  The state-of-the-art facilities, infrastructure, well built, well-lit spacious class-rooms are the hallmark of the institution. With sympathy and empathy to the poor and the needy, in spite of the tough competition of many highly commercial education al institutions, the management of the college, SJRES has not changed its service mission.

The student friendly atmosphere with efficient placement service  to reinforce the college from time to time, has introduced Add-on courses in Languages, Arts, Science and Commerce streams with UGC sponsorship. In addition, it also offers self-financed certificate courses in Tally , Web Designing, Advance Excel etc.,

Anti-ragging cell, Anti Sexual harassment cell,  Women Empowerment cell, Alumni's association, NCC, NSS, Red Cross, Human Rights’ cell, Red Ribbon club, Counselling cell, Scouts and Guides, Yoga center, Placement cell are active throughout the year.  14 Faculty with Ph.Ds and 10 M.Phils, have an aptitude for research.

The college is committed to the cause of the poor and needy, dedicated to the upliftment of the illiterates and the first-generation literates by providing education with a nominal fee structure. The college provides fee concessions,installment fees facility, merit and endowment scholarships ,awards and prizes to the achievers. Parents teachers meeting are conducted regularly to discuss student related as well as college related issues. With its rich history, consistency and commitment, the institution is able to sustain the fluctuations in the education field and continue to serve the society undeterred and lead the student community to the path of glory.
