The Department of English has a long and rich history. The department has always been creative and has adopted innovative methods of teaching and testing. Instead of giving assignments to write for internal assessment, the following activities are conducted.
- Translating a paragraph from English to Kannada
- Watch a silent movie and narrate the story
- Watch a movie and write a review
- Group discussion
- Word building
- Roleplay
- Interviewing students
The department has been conducting a certificate course in ‘Applied Communicative Skills’. The language lab was installed six years ago and presentation skills, interview skills, body language etc were taught there. Now, a 30 hours course is conducted.
