The department handles Physics as one of the major subjects in the combination of PCM and PME of B.Sc. course.

Infrastructure:

A spacious, well equipped laboratory with adequate apparatus to cater to the needs of students to carry out the experiments prescribed for the course by the university and also to carry out their project works.  The laboratory is provided with ICT facility.

Teaching methods:

In addition to the traditional chalk and talk methods, special interactive classes by applying group discussions, quiz are arranged to encourage the students and there by improve their learning.

Class seminars and paper presentations are organized for the students to help them acquire knowledge, skill and self-confidence.

ICT facilities are effectively adopted in class room teaching. Remedial classes are arranged for slow learners. Student learning is evaluated through periodic tests and internal examinations.

 Activities:

Competitions in model making, chart making are organized annually.

Special lectures by eminent speakers are organized to enrich the knowledge of the students and to introduce them to the recent developments in various researches in the field of Physics.

Visits to reputed research centres are organized to inculcate scientific temperament and research spirit among the students.
