The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has it genesis in the “University Corps” created under the Defence ACT 1917.  It was later renamed as University Training Corps,  University Officers Training Corps.  In 1948, 16th July, NCC Came into existence under the NCC Act XXXVI of 1948 under the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The Motto of NCC is “Unity & Discipline”, which was adopted on 23 Dec.1957.  NCC is one of the greatest organization which brings together the youth from all parts of the nation to mould them into united, secular & disciplined citizens of our nation.  The tricolour flag stands for the three services-red for the army, deep blue for Navy & Light blue for Air Force.  The letters NCC & the NCC Crest in the gold in the middle of the flag is encircled by a wreath of lotus, each lotus representing one NCC Directorate.

The aims of NCC are approved by MOD in March 2001.  They are

  1. To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
  2. To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
